YAY! TEQUILA!

So, I was going through some old emails and found this one my friend, Angie, sent me last summer. We were up in Park City at O' Shucks near her house and it was just one of those crazy nights we were shooting tequila. I think these pics says it all! Angie's face is priceless!

Hooray, it's my b-day week!

Yes, I turned 29 yesterday...this is just way too close to 30! I am already dreading next year.

So, I am still celebrating my "birthday week". Everyone gets a "birthday week"! Jess thinks my birthday week has turned into a birthday month. I guess it started when Jess bought my jacket at the beginning of the month, then the next week took me out for sushi, then the next week I had some pretty pricey fish tacos in St. George. Pricey meals usually only come on special occasions for us. On a normal night we usually don't go over $15 for the both of us!

So, Eileen and I went snowboarding at Brighton on Monday night because I acquired some free passes. The snow was crap, but it was still fun to get some girl time in! We went to Lonestar Taqueria for some fish burritos afterward. We also went to lunch at Desert Edge yesterday. We don't get to hang out too much anymore. I am in a food coma, because Jess and I also went to dinner with my parents at Bohemian last night. Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for a great b-day!

Easter weekend in Zion

Jess and I had an awesome Easter weekend down South. We stayed with our friends Robbie and Christine who live in a little town called Virgin just outside Zion National Park. Jess did a little bouldering, we hiked Angel's Landing in Zion National Park, and did an 11 mile bike ride on the Jem trail on Sunday. The best part about the trip was it was WARM! We have not had an active weekend outdoors for ages! Needless to say, I am super sore today from all the hiking and biking.

I had never hiked Angels Landing and I will have to admit I was a bit nervous on the last half mile. Jess kept giving me dirty looks because my shoes kept slipping on loose dirt and I kept letting out little noises everytime that happened. Those chains you hold on to get to the top are nasty, (because everyone and their brother touches them) but they are completely necessary! Jess's friend, Robbie, nicknamed the chain the "Gohnerreah Chain", so I thought it would be quite comical to pretend like I was licking it in the picture above.

Hope everyone has a Happy Easter weekend! I know my mom will since Lent is over and she can have chocolate once again! Jess and I are headed to St. George for some fun in the sun! Enjoy the "Peep Show".

Senseless murder

Wally Knapton was one of my managers when I worked at Draper KMART. On Wednesday, March 12 he was gunned down by 2 robbers at the Family Dollar store he managed in SLC. There is no amount of merchandise or money in a dollar store worth taking another human life. Absolutely sad and senseless. My heart goes out to his family.

I was talking to my friend, Nick, who used to work at KMART with me and he brought up one of Wally's famous one liners. It was "One grenade" meaning if there were a bunch of us straightening in one aisle one grenade would take us all out. It sounds bad, but was his type of sense of humor.

Halloween '07

I know, I am all over the place with posting things, but I had to post this pic, because it is hilarious! AND Eileen wanted a pic of her on here. BIG LOVE for Halloween '07!

Our Lil' Family

Here is a brief history of our little family. Jess and I met in 2003 and were married on July 23, 2005 up at Alta Ski Resort. We do not have any children just yet, but we do have a 7 month old Chihuahua named Milo, who I swear is just as much work as a child.
Jess is in a radiology program through Weber State University and will specialize in ultrasound next year. Right now, he works at American Fork Hospital as a rad tech. I work for Marriott Vacation Club as a part time trainer to new associates and a travel agent to people who own Marriott timeshares.
Something exciting...we are headed to Thailand for 3 weeks in June! This is our first BIG trip together and Jess's first time out of the US.

Climbing Comps

Jess has been kicking ass in a few local climbing competitions the last couple of months. In November '07 he took 1st in a lead climb comp. at The Quarry. Last month he took 3rd in a bouldering comp at The Front and just last weekend he took 1st at another bouldering comp at The Quarry. This pic was taken at the California Comp at The Front.

On January 16, 2008 we welcomed our beautiful little niece, Mikayla, into the world. Casey had to have a c-section, but has recovered extremely well. Grandma and Grandpa Johnson are so proud!

Castleton Tower-Moab, UT

So last September I finally got the nerve to climb "The Tower". Every September we go to Moab to meet up with friends from CO for the infamous "NWS" party and every year a group of people climb Castleton Tower. I finally got the nerve to do it! Jess's friend, Scott, was kind enough lug me up the tower with his girlfriend,Whitney and our other friend Brian.

We went up the "North Chimney", which is about 3 pitches. For those of you who know climber lingo, the rating on that route is about 5'9/5'10 with some crack climbing involved. Scott lead the climb and belayed all 3 of us up all 3 pitches. All went smooth (other than Brian being hung over and almost barfing on me) and after 5 hours we finally reached the top...absolutely AMAZING! 1400 feet in the air...I felt like I was on top of the world!

I wasn't afraid to climb up, but I was petrified to rap down. I had actually been dreading it the whole climb. By this time it was almost dark and we still had to rappel down this thing! The worst part is lowering yourself off the ledge (even though you know you are secured by a rope) with a 600 foot drop below you! Our friend, Andy, who met us at the top, calmed my fears and assured me nothing was going to happen to me after he saw me trembling. Even Scott, who has done this climb a million times, says he still gets nervous to do this rappel

Well, needless to say, I made it down and I am still alive! What an amazing experience! The 1st picture shows a shadow of the tower to the left of me.
